Here’s just five of our current favorites, from various years, that you may have missed – ALL available to watch INSTANTLY! These aren’t our TOP 5, by any means – just a handful of flicks we want to highlight.

Concrete Night
The official Finnish submission to the Academy Awards for Best Foreign Language Film during the year of its release, Concrete Night captures the pain and joy of youth through exquisite, eye-popping black-and-white cinematography. Simo (Johannes Brotherus), an impressionable fourteen-year-old boy, is keeping his soon-to-be incarcerated brother (Jari Virman) company during his last twenty-four hours or freedom. The siblings embark on an unforgettable dream-like odyssey through a beautiful and otherworldly Helsinki. Over the course of the evening, however, the pair meet some unsavory characters and Simo is forced to grow up quickly – learning a few dangerous life lessons in the process. That may sound bleak, but we can’t overstate how gorgeous this movie is. Director Pirjo Honkasalo has the eye of a great artist and we can’t wait to see what he’ll do next.

Baby Bump
Eleven-year-old Mickey House (Kacper Olszewski) is frustrated with his changing body – most notably, the over-sized ears sprouting out of his head. A loner at school with an overbearing mother (Agnieszka Podsiadlik) who still treats him like a child, Mickey finds his only solace in selling urine to his classmates for drug tests. Like a Walt Disney film directed by David Lynch, this outrageous and hilarious Polish import wowed audiences at the Venice Biennale, where it received a Queer Lion prize. As Mickey’s imagination and toxic reality begin to blur, he must face the ultimate fact: growing up is not for kids.

Lucky Bastard
Rusty (Patrick Tatten) is a successful architect with to-die-for pecs, bulging biceps and a killer smile. When his stodgy boyfriend leaves town, Rusty has a chance encounter with a handsome though seedy drifter, Denny (Dale Dymkoski). Blinded by Denny’s good looks, vulnerability and hustler charm, Rusty begins an intense, steamy relationship ruled by long-dormant passions However, as Denny’s control over Rusty strengthens, it soon becomes clear that Rusty – now on a seductive ride of sex and drugs – must decide what it is he truly wants. Lucky Bastard is an edgy, sensual and salacious exploration of youthful indiscretion, sexual indulgence and the high stakes of attraction – a story that rings true to anyone who’s ever fallen for the wrong guy for all the right reasons.

Guigo Offline & Midnights with Adam
Watch two terrific short (but not too short) films for one low price with this unique collection from TLA Releasing! The 51-minute Guigo Offline follows a twelve-year-old boy who is obsessed with his smart phone – and his first adolescent crush on a girl at school. Forced to go on a weekend-long fishing trip with his father, he finds that he’s not able to use his phone out in the wilderness. He also starts to realize that his dad’s new friend Paul may be more than just a friend. The second film in this set, Mignights with Adam, is a sexy and thought-provoking 31-minute short about a recently out-of-the-closet young man who is struggling over hidden feelings for his hunky, seemingly unattainable best buddy. These are two coming of age stories you don’t want to miss.

Furious Desires
Desire is mysterious. Desire is overwhelming. Desire is tragic. Desire is FURIOUS. The many permutations of that strange thing called desire are on full display in this stunning collection of short films: Daytime Doorman tracks the burgeoning desire between Marcelo and his sexy doorman Marcio. Xavier charts the beginnings of desire when Nicholas begins to notice his son, Xavier, only pays attention to certain types of boys. The Other Side is about the frustrations of unfulfilled desire when the object of your lust is beyond your reach – literally. The Tigers Fight explores what happens when one man, unbound by the ancient traditions, decides to subvert what’s expected of him to declare his desire for his best friend. Finally, in Loris Is Fine, we learn about the lengths two young lovers will go to prove that their love is beyond desire altogether.

In Bloom
Two young men find their seemingly solid relationship threatened when temptations and unease begin to pull them apart. During one hot summer, blond, pot-smoking and dealing Kurt (Kyle Wigent) and cute, but moody grocery store clerk Paul (Tanner Rittenhouse) begin a committed relationship. Best pals, roommates and lovers, they have an amazing rapport. But when rich-kid Kevin (Adam Fane) enters the picture with romantic designs on Kurt, an unsatisfied longing is exposed – threatening their love in the process. A richly textured examination of gay male relationships, In Bloom is a warm, funny, intelligent, sharply-written, painfully honest, well-acted drama.

Lucky Bastard
Director Everett Lewis returns in fine form with this sexy dark thriller about a young man who finds his stable world threatened when he meets and falls in love with hot drug-addicted hustler. After some risky decisions cause his home-design business to falter, handsome young Rusty (Patrick Tatten) blows off steam with Denny (Dale Dymkoski), a blond bit of rough trade he meets at a convenience store. But what begins as a carefree fling lights a fire inside the buttoned-up architect, and before long Rusty follows Denny into an unpredictable world of drugs, sex and seedy characters. Fueled by the palpable chemistry between the two leads, Lucky Bastard details a somewhat grim reality full of dashed hopes and damaged goods, while also highlighting the enduring spiritual bond that forms between lovers. As Denny’s moods swing out of Rusty’s control, Rusty finds himself at a crossroads, to stake out his future against the messy backdrop of real life.
