Out This Week: Swan Song

From Todd Stephens, the director behind Another Gay Movie and Edge of Seventeen comes a funny and touching showcase for legendary character actor and arthouse icon Udo Kier.

Kier stars in Swan Song as a retired hairdresser named Pat Pitsenbarger, who escapes the confines of his small-town Sandusky, Ohio nursing home after learning of his former client’s dying wish for him to style her final hairdo. Soon, Pat embarks on an odyssey to confront the ghosts of his past – and collect the beauty supplies necessary for the job.

Co-starring Jennifer Coolidge and Michael UrieSwan Song is a comical and bittersweet journey about rediscovering one’s sparkle… and looking gorgeous while doing so. We can’t recommend this film – the final installment in Stephen’s “Ohio Trilogy” after Edge of Seventeen and Gypsy 83 – more highly.

Andy Warhol and Paul Morrissey’s Blood for Dracula comes to Blu-ray in a new Special Edition!

Immediately after completing the cult classic Flesh for Frankenstein, writer-director Paul Morrissey, star Udo Kier and producer/presenter Andy Warhol created Blood for Dracula. The film remains a sumptuously depraved Euroshocker, a cunning political allegory and a wickedly funny horror flick that obliterates the line between art and bad taste.

Desperate for virgin blood, Count Dracula (Kier) journeys to an Italian villa only to discover the family’s three young daughters are also coveted by the estate’s Marxist stud (Joe Dallesandro of Morrissey’s FleshTrash and Heat). Stefania Casini and Bicycle Thieves director Vittorio de Sica co-star in one of the most unique underground horror films of the 1970s, now scanned uncut in 4K from the original negative and available on Blu-ray for the first time ever.

This new 3-disc collector’s item is packed with special features, including numerous interviews with the cast and filmmakers. Check out the new artwork below and click here to order your copy.

All Male, All Nude

2017, United States

Award-winning filmmaker Gerald McCullouch (BearCity, Daddy) dives into the lives of men who work at America’s only all-nude, all-male gay strip club – located, oddly enough, in the heart of The Bible Belt! All Male, All Nude is a cutting-edge journey into the taboo world of male stripping. The men living this life can’t be boxed in, nor can those who pay to watch them shed their clothes. An unprecedented expedition, the film introduces staggeringly attractive array of gents (ranging in age from their 20s to their 40s) who expose themselves for the camera in more ways than one. Not only is there plenty of jaw-dropping nudity on display, but the men discuss the events that brought them to this controversial line of work: acting as delicious eye candy for gay men, straight women, business men in town for work, married couples and everyone in between.
