Teenage Kicks
The scars of our youth shape the adults we become. In this riveting Australian drama, angst-ridden seventeen-year-old Miklos (Miles Szanto) makes plans to escape his migrant family and run away with his best friend and secret crush Dan (cutie-pie Daniel Webber, hot off his star-making turns in 11.22.63, The Punisher and The Dirt). Miklos’s dreams are dashed after the accidental death of his older brother Tomi (Nadim Kobeissi). Only he knows the events that led to this tragedy. Suddenly, he is forced to navigate his guilt, as well as his explosive sexuality, in order to find the man he will become. Written and directed by Craig Boreham, who recently made MTV’s list of “hot filmmakers to watch,” Teenage Kicks is a smart and sexy drama that has earned rave reviews around the globe. Empire magazine labeled it “a debut not to be missed.”
Downriver
Sometimes the path to redemption is paved in sin. Eighteen-year-old James (Reef Ireland) has just been released from juvenile detention after serving time for his involvement in the suspected drowning of a young boy in a river years earlier. Ravaged with uncertainty, dealing with an estranged family and expecting to face the dead boy’s mother, James is set upon a journey of self discovery, shocking revelations and danger as questions surrounding the boy’s death brim to the surface. Old friendships are questioned, family ties are tested and lives are put on the line as James must find his path to the truth. Its a path that will lead him downriver… or toward the truth.
The Visitor
Cibrail (Sinan Hancili) is a young Turkish policeman living happily with his girlfriend in Berlin. He has integrated seamlessly into local culture, is socially active and financially stable. On the surface, his life looks perfect but something is causing him to have sleepless nights. When his girlfriend’s attractive male cousin (Engin Sert) arrives from Rome, Cibrail is instantly drawn to the handsome, charming visitor. The restless feelings and longing he has suppressed for years begin to bubble to the surface, setting off a chain of events that will turn everyone’s lives upside down. The Visitor is a sensual drama, exploring the dramatic consequences and rewarding journey of a man triggered into embracing who he really is.
Coldwater
Brad Lunders (P.J. Boudousqué) is a teenager forcefully abducted from his home in the middle of the night by his mother’s consent to a harsh wilderness reform facility. There is no contact with the outside world and the retired war colonel in charge prides himself on breaking an inmate’s spirit in order to correct delinquent behavior. As we learn of the tragic events that led to Brad’s arrival, unforeseen circumstances threaten to tear the already eroding reform facility apart, forcing Brad to confront not only his fellow inmates and the personnel in charge, but finally his own sense of what is right and what is wrong. Though it isn’t exactly a gay-themed film, there is a lot of homoeroticism and subtext to Coldwater that we think our viewers will appreciate. You can certainly enjoy taking in the cast of exceptionally hot guys while you deal with the film’s harrowing themes.
Triple Crossed
With a tour in Afghanistan behind him, war-addled veteran Chris Jensen (Jack Brockett) struggles to assimilate back to life in California. Drifting and living out of his car, he soon discovers that few civilians are willing to deal with the remnants of a damaged military career. Chris is self medicating; desperate to silence the echoes from the front lines. When an opportunity finally presents itself, he makes the hard decision to employ the coveted talents he has honed in special ops. A job is a job and Chris knows civilian life can be just as cut-throat as time in active duty. But just how close does he have to get to Andrew Warner (Sean Paul Lockhart) to secure the kill? Triple Crossed, the steamy romantic drama/thriller that marks the directorial debut of Lockhart (also known as gay porn superstar Brent Corrigan), is sure to get your pulse racing.
