Now Available On-Demand: Popporn

Popporn is a comedic series where comedians roast gay porn scenes. What’s weird, what’s strange, what’s hilarious, what’s gross, what’s surprising, what’s enticing? Nothing will escape their comedic wrath!

Reminiscent of comedic commentary shows like Best Week Ever and the plethora of “I Love the… (insert decade here)” installments produced by VH1, Popporn has their talking heads cover a wide variety of porn topics. They dig into sexed-up film parodies, people with daddy issues, Game of Thrones-inspired fantasies, straight first timers and much, much more.

Cola de Mono

2018, Chile

It’s Christmas Eve, 1986, and Borja (Cristobal Rodriguez-Costabal) is a precocious teenager with a passion for film. As his extended family comes together to celebrate the holiday, the combined forces of the suffocating Chilean heat, free-flowing drinks and repressed desire contribute to the eruption of long-held secrets. This hypnotizing story from Chile is both an enticing family melodrama and an explicit erotic thriller about the ways that passion and desire control our lives – from our pop culture tastes to our sexual fantasies. Jam-packed with nudity and graphic sexuality, Cola de Mono is easily the sexiest and most audacious gay-themed Christmas movie we’ve ever seen. Make sure to draw the shades, dim the lights and watch this one with a box of tissues handy.

Death in Buenos Aires

2014, Argentina

A big hit in Argentina, where it was filmed, Death in Buenos Aires is a gripping police thriller about corruption, paranoia, and the secret gay lives of the wealthy elite of Buenos Aires during the politically tumultuous 1980s. At the scene of a murder of one of the city’s high society figures, veteran police inspector Chavez (Demian Bichir) runs into Gomez (Chino Darin), a.k.a. El Ganso (The Goose), a handsome young rookie cop with dreams of advancement. When Chavez discovers that the murder may be linked to a small-time hustler, and the gay nightclub La Manila, the detective sends the rookie undercover to pose as a newcomer on the prowl for an older benefactor. As they come close to luring out the killer, the erotic charge of their new surroundings triggers changes in both Chavez and Gomez. Director Natalia Meta‘s deeply involving debut film delivers rich, multi-faceted characters that match the complexity of its riveting story.

Shadowlands is a brand-new anthology-style film (the first in a planner series) that explores love in three separate stories – a couple renegotiating a relationship, a narcissist grasping to comprehend it, and star-crossed lovers mourning its loss.

The films begins in 1928 with Alex, a plastic surgeon hell-bent on perfection, hosting a house party with an assortment of colorful guests. Amid romantic misfires it becomes apparent that the only person Alex is interested in is himself. Fast forward to 1951 and a gay military couple exploring the idea of opening their relationship while on a remote camping trip when they encounter a mysterious stranger. The stories conclude in 2018 when a painter, mourning the loss of his lover, becomes obsessed with creating a realistic painting of him. The resulting piece is so beautiful and life-like that he is drawn under its spell.

Q&A: Charlie David, producer and screenwriter of Mulligans

Gay movie mainstay Charlie David wrote and stars in this beloved kinda/sorta gay update of The Graduate!

Tyler (Derek Baynham) brings his college buddy Chase (David) home for the summer to hang out with his surprisingly hot dad, Nathan (Dan Payne), and mom, Stacey (Thea Gill from “Queer as Folk”). They have the picture-perfect, All-American life going on here in quaint Prospect Lake. The father-son duo golf with regularity, there’s always a family barbecue and the conversation is straight out of “Leave It to Beaver.” While Chase knows he’s gay, he has never come out to his friend, who tries in vain to set him up with girls. But when Chase comes out to his summer family, the cracks in the family dynamic start to show. Nathan looks with a lusty new eye to his son’s best friend, and when he and Chase are left alone for the night, their mutual passion bubbles to the surface, and clothes are quickly shed. The drama hits a peak as Tyler and Stacey return early and discover the shocking secret about this young dad. Can Nathan remain true to himself and keep his family together? Sparkling dialogue, a fast pace and lots of screen time for the ridiculously gorgeous Charlie David have made Mulligans, originally released in 2008, a movie we keep coming back to again and again.

With the 10th anniversary of Mulligans approaching, we thought it was a great time to revisit the film, so we’re presenting this Q&A with Charlie. Enjoy!
